So when Google+ first opened its doors in 2011 I had a feeling that this time it was different. And it most certainly was. With the arrival of Google+ the lines between social media and search engine optimization become even further blurred. Posting to your Google+ business page became mandatory as the Google search algorithm changed to add engagement and activity from your Google+ page. Google Authorship for blogging also became an important factor and made many of us marketers joined Google+ in an effort to support our fellow SEO colleagues. I also created a Google+ business page for not only National University but for the other affiliates of the National University System as well.
