Search Engine Optmization
Home / Portfolio / Marketing / SEO
Throughout my career I have worked on search engine optimization projects that have ranged from forums technology to blogging to classic title, meta description, and meta keyword changes. Please scroll down to view some examples.
T-Mobile
The entire DevEdge Documentation Hub was built with SEO URL taxonomy and architecture in mind. Not only was the content management system (CMS) custom built by me to make sure search was kept first and foremost in mind, but the site structure and internal links were also carefully crafted to maximize searchability.
I personally wanted to name it "DevEdge Documentation Portal" because the keyword phrase "documentation portal" received more monthly searches at the time than "documentation hub". But was vetoed by the product managers at the last minute.
GLDS
I used the GLDS Knowledge Base and the concept of "misspelled" search to reduce the number of customer service calls by 90% for the product WinForce Tech (WFT). When analyzing the customer service transcripts I discovered that the majority of customers did not ask for WFT assistance / documentation. They asked for WTF documentation. Yes you read that right ... "WTF" documentation. So updated all the WinForce Tech documentation to include the tag acronym "WTF". Service calls reduced by 90% for this particular product and sales increased by 24%.
Tealium
For the Tealium Learn Community I researched keywords that were driving a tremendous amount of SEO traffic and discovered that the phrase "charles proxy debug" was the number one driver of traffic to the Tealium community. Recommended that advanced documentation be written around this topic to encourage further organic visits.
National University Golf Academy
When I first started working for National University, the Golf Academy had a two year old YouTube channel that had outstanding "how to" golfing videos on it. However, the videos had titles like Beverly - Setup for Clubs_Md.mov and Doug - One handed Club Path_Md.mov . I knew then and there that the videos had to be search engine optimized and given the proper tagging if anyone was to ever find and utilize this fantastic resource. As a result, the views for the channel have grown to over 1.5 million and the subscribers have also grown to over 2700 as of this writing. There have also been some other wonderful side effects as a result. The National University Golf Academy experienced a 95% increase in admissions via its YouTube channel in 2013. And you can also find certain videos at the top of the SERPs for such keyord phrases as chin putter .
National University
For the keyword online university, I managed to get http://www.nu.edu to rank number #9 in the Baidu SERPs and #14 in the Google SERPs.
National University Polytechnic Institute
For National University Polytechnic Institute, or NUPI, I managed to get several keywords ranked on page #1 in the SERPs for the website http://www.nupolytech.org. Keywords included:

Verizon
For Verizon, I had a team of SEO experts tag the various threads within the Verizon forums with keyword phrases that matched highly sought after terms. The result was that 68% of the time, when someone was searching for Verizon, they would find my forums first. To learn more about my forums accomplishments, click here .
